Product & performance

What does 20 kg of support mean?

Up to 10 kg per arm. Support reduces strain on the arms, shoulders and back; the load’s weight stays the same.

Heavier objects can also be supported, provided the user is permitted and able to handle them safely without an exoskeleton. Company rules, risk assessments and statutory load limits still apply.

How does active support work?

A battery, sensors and motors generate force through cables. Support strength and speed can be adjusted in steps on the control panel.

Does LU 20 allow freedom of movement?

In free mode, the system follows your movements, including when you perform other tasks between lifts. Adequate space and suitable workplace conditions are required.

What should I check before putting it on?

Adjust the system to the individual. Check fit and settings before every use.

How is the weight distributed?

Across the forearms, shoulders, back and hips. The backpack system was developed with Deuter.

Use & safety

Which tasks are suitable?
  • Order picking, parcel handling and sorting
  • Material transport, loading and unloading
  • Machine loading and assembly of heavy components
What operating limits apply?

For commercial and industrial workplaces. No special water or dust protection. Outdoor use, potentially explosive atmospheres and other particularly hazardous areas require separate assessment and approval.

Who may use LU 20?

Trained, medically fit adult professionals; use is voluntary and requires workplace approval.

Medical clearance is required if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or metal implants, or face comparable medical risks. If you have health concerns, seek medical advice before use.

What instruction is required?

Before first use: fit, operation, limits, safety and workplace. Supervisors and staff responsible for safety or operations can also attend.

Does LU 20 replace workplace safety measures?

No. Risk assessments, ergonomic workplace design, operating instructions and legally required training provided by the employer remain mandatory. The task must be permitted and safe without an exoskeleton.

Battery, care & maintenance

What affects battery runtime?

Use, assistance level and battery. Demanding tasks or continuous motor assistance may shorten runtime.

How long does charging take?

Depends on battery capacity and the charger. A charged spare battery keeps the system ready for use.

Are the battery and charger included?

Purchased separately unless agreed otherwise: approved Makita XGT 40V max batteries and a compatible charger.

What is washable?

Textiles worn against the body: interchangeable and machine washable. One set per regular user; change between users and clean according to the care instructions.

Mechanical and electronic components: not machine washable. Clean according to the user manual.

How does maintenance work?

Maintenance intervals depend on intensity of use; LU 20 signals when maintenance is due. Checks cover components, safety functions, connections and wear parts. Work and approved safety-related updates are logged.

Only EASE or approved service providers may open, repair or modify the unit.

Service & guarantee

Which services are available?

Depending on the agreement: instruction, adjustment, safe use and support with workplace rollout. Plus maintenance, functional and safety checks, required software and firmware updates, and replacement of wear parts. A dedicated contact handles technical questions and faults.

What does the User Experience Guarantee cover?

Voluntary satisfaction guarantee for the first three months after delivery. Covers significant, persistent acceptance issues among intended employees despite committed use as an integrated part of workplace operations.

  • Report issues early.
  • Allow EASE to analyse causes and make at least two optimisation attempts, such as instruction, settings, training or technical adjustments.
  • If material acceptance issues persist, affected systems may be returned under the contract terms.

A special contractual right of return; not a technical performance guarantee or statutory right of withdrawal.

Is a replacement unit available during maintenance?

During regular maintenance under the relevant service agreement: a functionally equivalent replacement unit. It need not be new or identical in design, but provides the same agreed functionality.

What should I do if the system fails?

Report immediately through the agreed service channel: serial number, fault description, available photos or videos, error messages and delivery address.

Once a complete report is received, a functionally equivalent replacement is provided under the service agreement. Planned timeframe: five working days in Germany, seven in other EU member states.
